Dualism is the fundamental foundation of the universe. Life and death, black and white—two sides of the same coin, weaving an endless tapestry of meanings and forms. Within their interaction lies immense power: they can merge into an inseparable union or repel like opposite poles of a magnet.
The Split Scream photo project emerges from a creative dialogue between hairstylist Alexander Kirilishin and photographer-artist Vladimir Beroev. Their collaborative vision delves into the essence of paired images, revealing new facets of reality.
The project’s name is inspired by the Split Screen technique—an art of dividing the screen, familiar from cult films, online meetings, and music videos. This visual approach creates a unique space where two images merge into something greater than the sum of their parts.
At the heart of the project are 20 unique looks born from Alexander’s imagination and mastery of hairstyling, united into paired compositions through Vladimir’s visual direction. Each pair balances on the edge of black and white, forming a charged field of meaning where a scream emerges—the very first cry that marks the beginning of human life.
What life, what scream lies between each pair of images? Perhaps a silent hymn of the soul or a grotesque manifesto of protest? Every viewer will find echoes of their own state in the project, hearing their own divided scream—their own Split Scream.
